Le songe d’une nuit d’été

Le Songe d'une nuit d'été (A Midsummer Night's Dream) by William Shakespeare was written in 1594. It was set to music by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy (Ein Sommernachtstraum) in 1826.

The Grooms' version was an adaptation of the Mendelsshon work for an amateur wind orchestra, an ensemble of professional brass band players and a narrator who adapted elements of Shakespeare's text.

This show was commissioned by the theatre of Mayence (Germany) in 2009. It was performed again in 2011 with the Chinon wind orchestra.
